The sexy highwayman turns out to be Lachlan Ross, her old neighbor and friend in disguise. Ross refuses to let Venetia go until her father repays an old debt, but Venetia vows that Ross is going to rue the day he decided to involve her in his plan for revenge. Two equally stubborn, delightfully strong-willed protagonists match wits and wiles with exceptionally entertaining and splendidly sexy results in the latest sparkling addition to Jeffries' School for Heiresses Regency romance series. – John Charles

With Hope - Dorothy Garlock
Lovely and kind, Henry Ann Henry is a young woman whose emotional strength is put to the test when her beloved father dies unexpectedly, leaving Henry Ann to run the farm and cope with a difficult half-sister. Many of her neighboring farmers are struggling to deal with a serious drought and the depression, including handsome Tom Dolan. Tom has more trouble than dry acres however, for his mentally unstable wife is swiftly losing her hold on reality, a fact that endangers both Tom and their small son. Henry Ann's need of a farmhand throws the lovely young woman and the lonely man together, but the obstacles that stand in the way of their happiness may keep the two from realizing their love. A wonderful story liberally salted with nostalgic details of American farm life in the 1930s, With Hope is Dorothy Garlock at her best.

Her Own Rules - Barbara Taylor Bradford
Although her small chain of elegant inns is prospering, attractive 44-year-old Meredith Stratton cannot shake a lingering sadness. An unhappy childhood spent in Australian orphanages and later with an unloving adoptive couple provided little emotional sustenance and left unanswered questions about her birth parents. A trip to England and France to purchase new business properties triggers recurring nightmares Meredith hasn't had for years. In desperation, she works with a psychiatrist to unlock memories that help her find the mother she thought had abandoned her. Along the way, Meredith draws support from her children and friends and even finds romance with a French architect. The web of characters supplies a convincing context for Meredith's past, present, and future, and compelling flashbacks propel readers to continue the search with her.

Before Sunrise - Diana Palmer
She is Anglo; he is Comanche. She is an archaeologist. He equates archaeology with grave robbing. Despite their differences, Phoebe Margaret Keller and Jeremiah Cortez know they've found their soul mates. That is, until Jeremiah goes away and gets married. Three years later, a still-bitter Phoebe is a museum curator on the Cherokee reservation in Chenocetah, North Carolina. A person claiming to be a professor claims he has found a Neanderthal in the caves near a new development. When the man is murdered, Jeremiah, now a widower and member of the FBI's Indian Country Crime Unit, is sent to investigate. It's obvious Phoebe and Jeremiah are still in love, but she is no hurry to forgive him. Before long, however, Phoebe becomes a target of the murderer, and there's no way Jeremiah is going to leave her again. Sensual and suspenseful, this romance is also loaded with information about Cherokee culture, and it debunks many Native American stereotypes.

50 Harbour Street - Debbie Macomber
Macomber's chronicle of life in Cedar Cove continues as Corrie and Roy McAfee receive postcards and fruit baskets from a mysterious source. The notes don't exactly threaten, but Corrie and Roy, a private investigator, are disconcerted. Eventually they theorize that the source is someone they knew in college who has the power to change their lives and the lives of their children. Meanwhile, their daughter, Linnette, moves to Cedar Cove and is ecstatic when a doctor she cares for moves there, too. Grace and Cliff may be on the outs. Cecelia continues to work while her husband, Ian, is at sea, and while they await the birth of their new son. Her boss' daughter, Allison, falls for a dark and rebellious young man. And as Charlotte and Ben begin their new life together, Ben's estranged son shows up. All this and more recommends this latest installment in the continuing saga of Cedar Cove.

The Bridal Season - Connie Brockway
Music hall performer Letty Potts is the original sow's ear who turns herself into a silk purse. Burned out of her rooming house by her unscrupulous ex-boyfriend Nick Sparkle, Letty needs to get out of London--and fast. Opportunity presents itself in the form of a train ticket to Little Bidewell discarded by Lady Agatha Whyte, society wedding planner. Upon her arrival, Letty is mistaken for Lady Agatha by the Bigglesworth family who have hired her to make their daughter's wedding the event of the decade. Never one to let good fortune slip by her, Letty utilizes her acting talent to pass as a duke's daughter forced to earn a living as a wedding coordinator. Thoroughly enmeshed in prewedding preparations, Letty finds herself unable to hurt the Bigglesworths who have welcomed her--as Lady Agatha--so graciously and who need her so much. However, when it turns out that the Bigglesworths' neighbor, the oh-so-handsome, unquestionably honorable, and all too eligible Sir Elliot March, is also the local magistrate, Letty figures it's time to get out of Dodge, uh, Little Bidewell. The larcenous Letty is utterly astonished by her overwhelming attraction to the serious--and seriously sexy--Elliot. He, too, seems completely astounded by Letty's natural sensuality, which leaves Elliot prone to behave in a most ungentlemanly manner. To further complicate matters, who should appear in Little Bidewell but the notorious Nick Sparkle, who believes Letty's working a con and wants in on the take. When the jig is up and Letty must face the music, it is left to Elliot to investigate and possibly prosecute the woman he has fallen in love with and wants to marry. Will two such different people, from such disparate places in society, be able to close the gap that exists everywhere but in their hearts? Read Connie Brockway's delicious frolic of a novel, The Bridal Season, to find out! --Alison Trinkle

The Inscription - Pam Binder
UNDER THE MIST-SHROUDED WATERS OF A SCOTTISH LOCH, AN IMMORTAL WARRIOR FINDS THE WOMAN OF HIS DREAMS -- AND A LOVE THAT DEFIES THE AGES.
In a stunning debut novel, Pain Binder evokes the Highland mysteries of Loch Ness to create a shimmering love story that crosses the boundaries of time.
Scotland, 1566: The immortal clan MacAlpin has lived for hundreds of years in their ancestral lands beside Loch Ness. When handsome warrior laird Lachlan MacAlpin rescues a woman from the loch's depths, he knows she is the lover that has haunted his dreams -- his one true love foretold by an ancient prophecy.

Amber McPhee, an American vacationing in Scotland, awakens in Urquhart Castle with no recollection of how she got there -- and slowly comes to realize that she has fallen more than four hundred years into the past. She is fascinated by the fierce but gentle Lachlan -- and finds herself quickly entwined in his world and his heart. Their eternal bond has shattered the barriers of time...but can they triumph over a deadly foe with whom Lachlan must do battle? Or will the legend's dark prophecy come true?

Winterset - Candace Camp
Despite its graceful beauty, Winterset remains shrouded in the mystery of its dark past. . .
Ever Since Anna Holcombe inexplicably refused his proposal, Reed Moreland has been unable to set foot in the home that was the backdrop to their romance--Winterset. The eerie beauty of the Gloucestershire mansion and the mystery that surrounds it have always captivated him, and he can neither continue living in the house nor give it up completely despite the painful memories it stirs in his heart.

But when Reed begins having his troubling dreams about Anna being in danger, he puts his heartbreak and bitterness aside and directs his carriage back to Winterset, determined to protect the woman he cannot stop loving. Once again passion flares between them, but the murder of a servant girl draws them deep in to the foreboding, deadly legends of Winterset. . .and a destiny neither Anna nor Reed can escape.

The Perils of Pleasure - Julie Anne Long

A rescued rogue . . .

Scandal has rocked the city of London. Colin Eversea, a handsome, reckless unapologetic rogue is sentenced to hang for murder and, inconveniently for him, the only witness to the crime disappears. Then again, throughout history, the Everseas have always managed to cheat fate in style: Colin is snatched from the gallows by a beautiful, clever mercenary.

A captivating captor. . .

Cool-headed, daring Madeleine Greenway is immune to Colin's vaunted charm. Her mission is not to rescue Colin but to kidnap him, and to be paid handsomely for it. But when it becomes clear that whoever wants Colin alive wants Madeline dead, the two become uneasy allies in a deadly race for truth. Together, they'll face great danger—and a passion neither can resist.

The Laird - Juliana Garnett
Kidnapped by her family's enemies, a young English woman becomes a prisoner of a Scottish clan-only to capture the heart of her captor.

Learning to Float - Lili Wright
Like an episode of Sex and the City, Wright's memoir of her solo East Coast trek from Maine to Key West begins with and often revisits her personal romantic history, which includes flings with a wealthy Greenwich banker, a Nantucket waiter, a ski bum, a responsible veterinarian and a "dreamy writer." After ignoring a marriage proposal from a man who moved from Utah to New York City just to be with her, Wright decides that at the age of 33, she needs to "settle down" and make a decision about her future. By the time she reaches the New Jersey shore, she's sent home her marriage-minded man's dog and given up understanding her past relationships. Determined to live in the present and take whatever comes lightly, she drifts southward from town to town, encountering several men who offer her drinks, boat rides, fishing lessons, astrological readings, places to sleep, homespun wisdom and no trouble whatsoever. In Key West, a final epiphany arrives right on cue, revealing that Wright needs to let love happen, to stick with it through the wild waves just offshore to the calm, supportive deep beyond. However, this revelation comes off as a hollow device, as if Wright actually took the road trip only to write about it in her first book after 10 years as a newspaper reporter. While Wright is a deft wordsmith, she fails to deliver the satisfaction of any unusual or penetrating insight into love, relationships or life.

Whole Lotta Trouble - Stephanie Bond
When three young female New York editors come up with a sassy scheme to publicly expose a notoriously womanizing literary agent, little do they imagine he'll end up not just naked (and tied up in S/M gear) but dead. All do, however, have motives for murder: the smarmy fellow has personally humiliated successful Felicia Redmon, professionally backstabbed not-so-successful Tallie Blankenship and plagiarized the plot of a book that means the world to ambitious Jan Glass. So confessing that they were the last to see their tormentor alive is likely to make them prime suspects, even in the eyes of Tallie's protective new cop boyfriend. But if they stay silent, they may wind up being the real murderer's next victims. While whodunit isn't revealed till the book's surprise ending, the suspense isn't the kind that kills you. As is typical of Bond's books (Party Crashers, etc.), the overall tone is deliciously frothy, and small comedic details abound: high-powered Felicia is a secret super housewife who cleans, cooks and lies about it, and Jan has changed her name from plain "Jane" to appear more glamorously French. And though romance is not the book's main focus, there's enough love between the laughs to keep relationship-minded readers happy.

Authors include Madeline Baker, Mary Balough, Elaine Barbieri, Lori Copeland, Cassie Edwards, Heather Graham, Catherine Hart, Virginia Henley, Penelope Neri, Diana Palmer, and Janelle Taylor. Author: Myla Goldberg

Price: Php 100.00

About the Book:

Eleven-year-old Eliza Naumann is the only "ordinary" member of a family of gifted people. Her father, Saul, is a cantor in the local synagogue and a keen student of Jewish texts; her mother, Miriam, is apparently a successful lawyer and her brother, Aaron, is a gifted student who is able to read and recite in Hebrew and is allowed into his father's study, where he plays the guitar with his father.

One day Eliza surprises herself by winning the class spelling bee, then the school bee. At first Saul is unaware of her success, but then he becomes increasingly involved with her. Eliza is invited into his study to practice, and Aaron for the first time finds the door closed to him. But as Eliza progresses through the district bee and prepares for the national bee, the troubled lives of her family come into sharp focus. Saul, who has tried to reach God first through drugs and then through study, becomes convinced that Eliza's talent shows a propensity for mysticism greater than his, which has the potential to lead her to shefa, the influx of the Divine. He gradually introduces her to the writings of Abraham Abulafia, a Medieval kabbalist writer, and it becomes clear that his ambitions for her go far beyond the winning of the spelling bee.
